Work Permit

A work permit in Canada allows foreign nationals to legally work within the country for a specific job and employer for a limited duration. The permit may be required for both temporary and permanent jobs, depending on the circumstances. To obtain a work permit, individuals usually need a job offer from a Canadian employer who has obtained a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or qualifies for an LMIA exemption. Applicants may also need to provide proof of their qualifications, such as education or work experience, and undergo medical examinations or security checks. Work permits are issued by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and are subject to specific conditions, including the duration of employment and employer restrictions.
